In all of my college career, I have never learned about so many different approaches relating to the same subject. I never knew there were this many unique approaches in the medical anthropology subdivision. Studying Parkinson's Disease, has definitely made me more aware of all different aspects one disease could have. I chose this disease because my uncle has been diagnosed and although I knew a few things about it, looking at an anthropological perspective has definitely helped me understand the disease on a whole new level. One new thing that I learned is the correlation that pesticide exposure has with Parkinson's. My family is not from America, therefore the globalization of the Applied approach has been really interesting. My aunt always fills me in on the different types of treatments they offer in Palestine. Some similar to American methods, others completely strange to the popular American Culture.
